Salman stays away from Ranbir's film

While Salman Khan's entire family was present at a special screening of "Anjaana Anjaani" on last Thursday evening, in Mumbai, Salman surprisingly stayed away.
The reason for this was his prior engagement elsewhere, but the fact that rumours of a special friendship between the film's leading man Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have been doing the rounds, did seem to make a difference to Salman's attitude towards Ranbir whom he had not so long 'mentored'.

Salman and Ranbir no more friends

Said a source,"Though Salman is very close to producer Sajid Nadiadwala, in this case, friendship was far exceeded by his anger at the rumours linking Katrina with Ranbir.  So while Salman was happy that Sajid could release hois film in spite of the political stress, he chose to stay away".
And while the nation heaved a collective sigh of relief on the Babri verdict, the loudest cheer came from Sajid Nadiadwala's office. After the verdict, Sajid said, "Ranbir and Priyanka were in my office the whole day. We were all frozen with fear and anxiety. We counted the moments until the verdict started coming in on TV". Apparently, Ranbir and Priyanka had made a secret "pact" - if all remained peaceful after the verdict, they would hold a special screening of the film for their close family and friends. If, God forbid, the verdict had created unrest the special screening would've been cancelled.

Before the screening, Sajid had said, " There's is a private screening for close friends and family....  Salu's family is coming for it. If something had gone wrong after the verdict I'd have ended up looking very stupid. Through it was Ranbir's idea to postpone the release of the film by a week, the final decision was mine. I'd have had to give a lot of answers to my distributors if the release had gone wrong this week."

KATRINA TO DO A MADHUBALA

After playing a quasi-biographical character in Raajneeti,, Katrina Kaif is set to play a real-life character-Madhubala. Katrina will reprise the legendary actress role in the Kishore Kumar biopic to be directed by Anurag Basu.
Katrina was finalised for the project after she opted out of Basu's other film, Silence, in which she was to costar with Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor. A source says, "Katrina couldn't do two back-to-back projects with Anurag and Ranbir. So she picked the biopic on Kishore Kumar in which she will play Madhubala". While she was considering her option back then, Katrina had said, "If I do another film with Ranbir, I'd want it to be a fullfledged commercial love story". And it can't get any more mainstream and romantic than the Kishore Kumar-Madhubala saga.
In fact, the actress has already begun doing her homework for the role and watched Mughal-e-Azam, Mahal and Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi.

While Katrina chose not to reply, Anurag says guardedly,"I think it's a little early to talk about it. I still haven't got the principal cast of my current project, Silence, in place. but yes, Katrina is someone I am very, very fond of....for her looks, talent and nature. I am definitely working with her, if not in silence, then in my next film". One of the song sequence from Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi that Anurag Basu's film will be looking to recreate is the Kishore-Madhubala song Ek ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si.

ANDAZ APNA APNA.......

The ongoing IPL is a usual total entertaiment. But it's even more interesting to see the celebrity team owners in action when their teams are on the field, especially when the going's tough. now take the case of bubbly Preity Zinta. It's quite interesting to see the way she reacts-- with utter joy or total frustration--at the exploits of her team's performance. At one match, she was left stumped when her team lost a wicket and was seen asking the person next to her 'What just happened'. On the other hand is the sex siren Shilpa Shetty. Always seated in the VIP box, she's busy preening for the cameras whenever they zoom in on her, no matter whether her team's winning or losing. Maybe that's her idea of morale boosting. Each to their own after all.

SHOWING IN MOMA :-

Nandita Das  starer Ramchand Pakistani, a film revolving around a family torn apart due to tensions between India and Pakistan , will have a special weeklong screening at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA)  in New York, as part of a monthly film series, Contempor Asian.  Adapted from actual events, the film depicts how an accidental crossing of the Indo-Pak border changes the lives of a poor Pakisthani Hindu untouchable family.

GIVING SIS AWAY :-

Fardeen Khan will give away his sister; Laila,  at her wedding to businessman Farhan Furniturewalla on April 16 in Mumbai. Fardeen and wife Natasha have sent out 'save the date' letters, and it's he who'll stand by his mother, sundri, at the wedding. Laila was earlier married to Delhi-based businessman Rohit Rajpal, and Fardeen was married to Pooja Bedi. Contrary to rumours of Fardenn not approving of his sister's current match, this personal invitefrom him clearly shows that he's indeed happy for his sister.




SUMMONED IN COURT :-

Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia, co-owners of Team Punjab, have been summoned by a Chandigarh court on April 2, for using pictures of freedom fighters in their IPL advertisements, on a complaint field by a Chandigarh NGO, Global Human Rights council (GHRC). In their complaint, GHRC had objected to the use of pictures of Bhagat Singh and Rajguru in the ads.

ABHI OR AKKI ?

Abhishek Bachchan and Akshay Kumar are in the running for Bhag Milkha Bhag. While Rakeysh Omprakesh Mehra wants Abhishek for the title role, Milkha Singh is insisting on Akshay Kumar. "My role should be played bby Akshay Kumar. Being a Punjab da puttar, he has the right physique and also actswell," Milkha says. Mehra said, "It's too early to speak about who'll play the role."

Abhishek Bachchan and Sheila Dikshit launched the Earth Hour 2010 at a press conference in Delhi yesterday. Earth Hour will be held on march 27, this year, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm . " I hope all households  will have candle-lit dinners on march 27," said Sheila Dikshit at the event, and Abhishek had this to say. " I think the CM for giving me a great idea about what to do during the Earth Hour. My wife will be very happy. I'll request the industry to shut studios and stop shooting".

Time for some Irani Chai

Guess who spoted at Colaba , Mumbai, recently sipping Irani chai and savouring the various delicacies of popular eating joints there? Dimple Kapadia. No the actress was not on a binging spree (on a spending/shopping spree) - her son-in-law Akshay Kumar wouldn't alow her to do that even if she wanted to ! Dimple was doing her homework there. she was driven by Kabir Sadanand, the director of TUM MILO TOH SAHI, to colaba because he wanted her to get the feel, the body language and the temperament of those who ran these cafes.
"Dimple plays a Parsi lady in the film, so Kabir wanted her to known more about the community. He woke her up early in the morning and took her around town.She stopped at these cafes ate there and spent time talking to the owners who were more than  happy to acquaint her to their way of life," said a source. After spending a good 2 to 3 hours hogging in Colaba, dimple might have spent the remaining day in Akshay's gym!
